Sumerian king list

November 14, 2006 at 11:13 pm by mahud

The Sumerian king list, that can be reconstructed though a number of cuneiform tablets (the earliest dating back to the early 3rd Millennium BC), list’s a total of 8 kings before the universal flood. Some tablets bring the number of pre-flood Kings up to ten, including the Sumerian Noah Ziusudra, who Berossus, whose list dates back to the 3rd Century B.C, calls Xisouthros, the tenth Pre-Flood king who escaped the destruction of the deluge in an ark. The 10 pre-flood Kings, each having reigned for tens of thousands of years, are the Mesopotamian counterparts of the 10 pre-flood patriarchs, who also lived for extraordinary periods, though reckoned in hundreds, not thousands of years. The tenth prediluvian patriarch was Noah, who, like Ziusudra also escaped the world flood.
