Introducing Mythology Synchroblog Four

August 5, 2008 at 9:36 pm by mahud

It’s been a while since A. Venefica at Symbolic Meanings, organized the last Mythology Synchroblog on the topic of Duality.

The Topic for This month’s Synchroblog is Journeying To Otherworlds.

Basically it’s up to you what you would like to write about. It could be about ancient mythic journeys to the underworld or sky realms, or Enchanted Islands (like in the Odyssey). Mythic journeys as found in various modern mediums of storytelling, or you can write your own myth of an Netherworld Journey. You can also write about your own experiences of journeying to other realms. Or you can write about beliefs of paradisical realms of the afterlife. Just a few suggestions.

Hope you can participate :D

The posting date is the 25th August 1st September

Everyone Who Has Contributed to Previous Mythological Synchroblogs

If you would like to add your name to the list of Mythology and Pagan bloggers who would like to participate this time around, leave a comment.

EDIT:: If you have participated in any of the previous Mythology Synchroblogs, please let me know, so I can get a good Idea of who is interested this time around. Thanks!

ANOTHER EDIT::I forgot to mention that all participants should include a list of everyone’s posts somewhere in their entry.

You can check out our previous Synchroblogs in the Mythology Synchroblog Category

Doesn’t look like there’s much interest in a Mythology Synchroblog this time around. I’ve give it a few more days and see way happens.

Guess I was wrong. Thanks Everyone!

    Hey! I’m interested.
Only you didn’t say to post a response if one was already on the list - so I took it as read, yup I’m in!

Could be other people read it that way, also.

    Love,
    Terri in Joburg

I’m interested! And I just got off the road and got online to read this. I’ll start thinking now. Yay! I like the synchroblog! It makes me feel like I’m part of a community. Which, I suppose, I am. :)

I’m not sure what my topic is yet, so I better get cracking :D

I’m in - not sure what I’ll write about exactly, but I’m sure the Muses will show me something!

This topic is right up my alley — how can I not? I’ll have just gotten back from a one-week solo camping retreat on the Appalachian Trail — I’m sure I’ll have something to say. (Compared to the cubicle I’m sitting in right now, the Trail is definitely the Otherworld! :-) )

Hi, Erik. Yeah, I hope the muses come through for you :D

Wow, Jeff the Appalachian Trail looks fantastic!

Soon I’ll be visiting the Rocky Mountains, which I’m very existed about.

When I return to the UK, I hope to do some walking myself, especially through Wiltshire, which, as you might know has an abundance of sacred sites, stone circles (the largest being the Avebury, that encompasses an entire village), long Barrows (my fav’ is west Kennet Long Barrow), round barrows, and not for getting the focal point of the sacred landscape Silbury hill.

Yeah I was hoping you would be up for this one. Otherwordly journeys seem to be your speciality :D

Thanks Jeff, looking forward to reading your post.

How very odd! I have been away and had not read this blog for quite some time. But today, I just posted an odd entry at Quaker Pagan Reflections, entitled Lions at the Door, which may qualify.

It’s not about a shamanic journey, per se, but about a dream I had which pulled together elements from a long history with the god I call Herne, as well as my recent forays into more mainstream religion, from hob nobbing with Quakers…

I _think_ it fits. If you agree, the post just went up (about ten minutes ago, though I began work on it yesterday).

I am interested and will be putting something up next Friday. But I’m not sure about what I need to say or do to be in. Can someone email me or point me in the right direction?

Hi, Cat. Good to see you!

Lions at the Door definitely fits the Otherworld category. I’ll add your link to the list of participants.

    Hi, Patrick!

It’s great your interested. All you need do is publish your post. Although I did forget to mention that all participants should include a list of everyone’s posts somewhere in their entry.

I have everyone’s blogs in my Google Reader so whenever a Synchroblog post is published I’ll add it to my list.

To be honest I really should of set a publish date rather than a deadline, which would of made things easier. I’ll do that for the next Mythology Synchroblog.

    Looking forward to your post!

I used to blog at Immanent Gorgon and have moved to this blog. I posted this: http://sometimesfaithsometimesnot.wordpress.com/2008/08/10/underground-ruminations/

It’s up. I wrote it a week ago, but kept hoping I’d have time to write a second section, but then never did. Not my best by a long shot, but hopefully of moderate interest to somebody out there.
