Reading Ali’s post Meadowsweet and Myrrh: Aesthetics and the Sacred, made me think some more about the sacred. Originally it was going to just be a short comment response on how I viewed the sacred in everything (and a newly planted idea in my mind about the nature of things that I think is best […]

Another contribution to the International Pagan Values Blogging Month
I don’t believe we live in a universe where two opposing truths can both be true. Maybe that’s a little bit simplistic and un-philosophical of me. And I find myth a more helpful spiritual guide than philosophy. I’ve never been much in to scientific theories beyond my […]

From life to death. To death from life. From life to death.
Cernunnos manifest and re-create through the mystery of death.
In darkness and in light give freedom to my footsteps
and guide me into your secret place.
There, grant me rest in your abundant peace.

This past month has been difficult for me. Hopefully, within this new lunar cycle and month of April, I’ll return more to myself and be able to feel Pagan again (This ’spiritual’ stuff doesn’t come as naturally to me as I’d like it to). Starting today, I am committing myself to daily meditation. A few […]

An African (Ashanti) myth records that God separated himself from Mankind after an old woman carelessly injured him [wound motif] with her pestle. In a futile attempt to reunite heaven and earth, the old woman gathered together all her children, and stacking large numbers of mortars, one on top of another, constructed a tall tower.
Only […]

What distinguishes the witness of the prophets and the apostles, so that it can have this significance for the existence of the congregation and its proclamation to the world? After all, they were men fallible as we are, children of their time as we are of ours, and their spiritual horizon was as limited as […]

In my early twenties (Now 35) I dedicated my life to Christ. Was baptised. I truly believed the Bible to be the FULL ON word of God, was infallible, and anyone who did not turn away from evil and accept Jesus into their lives would be eternally separated from God.
I was Christian for 10 […]

The Cyclic Serpent
The tail devouring serpent, known as the Ouroboros, is unarguably a cyclic symbol. In Norse mythology it is the sea-dwelling Midgard Serpent (Jormungand) that surrounds the world (Voluspa 50; Gylfaginning 34, 48; Skaldskaparmal 4; Hymiskvida 22; Husdrapa 4), making it a symbol of the cosmos, or like the Greek god Oceanos, the ocean […]

I was sad to learn via The Wild Hunt: Outgrowing Paganism? that the excellent Deo’s Shadow will no longer be podcasting. It’s been pretty obvious for some time that it was over. Now it is official
I’m a big believer that everyone whether they are secular or spiritually inclined are, in the larger scheme […]

Happy New Year!
As you can see I’ve given the blog an overall, changed the title (formally known as ‘Between Old and New Moons’) to “Cernunnos’ Path” and have created a logo to represent my religious path through Pagan-Mythic symbolism.
The idea for the logo was largely the by-product of ritual I created and performed by […]

What Paganism Means to Me
My form of Pagan practice was born from my study of mythology. I respect the beliefs of our ancestors, believing that that have much to teach us.
Pretty much (speaking for myself) Modern Paganism is a default religion. It gives me the freedom to experiment and explore the roots of humankind’s initial […]

I am on Cernunnos’ Path
Is he the One or but one of the Many: I know not
Is he the Logos or the Mythos: I differentiate not.
Is he the Male or Female, both or neither: I know not
…not yet.
Woven within his labyrinthine antlers resides a mystery: I understand not.
I know his name is Cernunnos: His […]

I shall Learn through relationship with the divine. Spend time practising my path. Widen my spiritual-self as far as possible. I may need to be as far-reaching as the cosmos itself, before I’ll ever wholly understand. Do not seek to wholly understand. Be boundless.
Keep the speed of self-cultivation down to a minimum. Let the […]

Horns represent the primal power of nature, expressed through the strength of a bull or the unstoppable power of a charging herd of buffalo or caribou, the majesty and raw virility of a roaring stag with its antlers silhouetted against the morning sun. They also represent the lunar power in the heavens, lighting the night […]

Three months ago, during a visit to the town of Banff, I picked up a necklace with a dragon tooth pendant to wear as a replacement for the ‘lunar’ dolphin necklace I discovered at a Medieval Fair earlier in the summer:
I was really happy when I discovered this crescent-shaped dolphin necklace. As the cycle of […]

My initial contact with Paganism came about through the discovery of a number of Pagan blogs in 2007. Up until this point my knowledge of Neo-Paganism was basically non-existent. At first I was sceptical, as I was aware that many of the ancient Pagan forms of worship and practice were In large chunks unknown, and […]

Thank You Grian for responding to my post So who is this Cernunnos dude? (A to Z).
This post was originally a comment in response to Griane’s comment, but as is often the case it evolved into something worthy of posting status. Griane (Lee Hutchings of Panthea: All Things Are Goddess) has also posted her […]

The current incarnation of my altar
My Altar has been steadily evolving since I first set it up back in October last year. The mythical symbolism remains the same. The necklace (symbolic of lunar-cosmic space-time) I’ve replaced with a wonderful wooden snake I won at a medieval fair last weekend. As soon as I saw it […]

This weekend Shanny and I travelled to Medicine Hat, which is like a hours drive from Brooks. Neither of us drive and so Shanny’s mum was wonderful enough to drive us. We ate Chinese food and looked around the various shops and stuff, keeping an eye out for bookstores. I spotted one second hand bookstore […]

It was great to discover a recent post at Simple Magics: Solitary Series - Venturing into the Community. I’m uncertain where my interest in Paganism is taking me. I’ve recently delved deeper into Wicca. I’ve read various introductory stuff off the internet and Google Books, and have read (and skimmed) through Buckland’s Complete Book of […]

I’m spiritually inept.
Part of my problem is unbelief. This has a lot to do with why I ceased living as a Christian. To be precise, my prayer life ceased. For intermittent periods of time over 10 years, I would pray. I would repeatedly pray for myself and others, but nothing in my life […]

I’ve finally set up an altar, and have chosen an image of Cernunnos as a representation of my Panentheistic understanding of divinity. The arrangement is pretty simple to look at, although It is based on a wide range of mythic images, as I understand them.

The necklace represents the cosmic order […]

I discovered the article Why Pagans Aren’t Really Pagan, via Under a Violet Sun, submitted to Metapagan. Basically the author claims that just because the ancients did not identify themselves as Pagan, then modern day Pagans are nothing of the sort.
One thing moderns who think of themselves as pagans have that ancient pagans never […]

Questions for Pagans
Ever since I was a teenager (I’m hitting 33 now), when I began thinking about religion, I was also very much entranced by nature, but I never really made the connection. Eventually I became a Christian.
Now I’m an ex-Christian who is seriously thinking about becoming a Pagan. I have so many questions for […]

I became a Christian around the age of twenty-one. My life before Jesus was not unlike many other Christians-to-be, whose testimonies you might of heard. I was very much a sinner. I cared about others, but I also placed my needs and desires above everyone else.
Christianity was there when I needed it
I took a […]
